Synopsis:
A picture may be worth a thousand words but how do you know for sure what it is saying to you and to others. Reading images is far more complex than we think and getting the full picture may be impossible especially if we do not understand the context or background of an illustrated document, sketch, or painting. Professor Bridget Brereton, eminent historian of the University of the West Indies gives us an insight into how an informed reading of paintings, photographs, sketches, and the like allows us to create moving snapshots of the past, making the stories of our ancestors more accessible to us.
